Marxist approach to Industrial Relations

Developed based on the theory of ‘Karl Marx’. This approach is based on class interests and class conflicts between labor and capital. Marxist approach focuses on the type of society in which an organization functions.
The views of this approach are:-
ü                               IR has wider meaning.  For them conflict arises not because of rift between management and workers but because of the division in the society between those who own resources and those who have only labor to offer.
ü                       Trade unions not only enhance their collective industrial power by reducing competition among individual employees, but also try to protect the interest of the working class.
