Trait theory of Leadership

According to Kirkpatrick & Locke (1991), leaders can be distinguished from non leaders on the basis of 7 attributes or traits:
·         Drive – Leaders must have to have high level of desire/ ambition/intensity to have something, towards achieving goal
·         Desire to lead – Leaders must have strong desire to influence & lead others. 
·         Honesty and integrity – Leader must be honest and he/she must have the faith of all.
·         Self-confidence – Leaders must contain high confidence.
·         Intelligence – Must have the ability to solve critical problems
·         Job-relevant knowledge – A leader must encompass the knowledge about tasks of job.
·         Extraversion – Leader must have the ability to share knowledge among his/her subordinates.
