Culture
is the shared patterns of behaviors and interactions, cognitive constructs and
understanding that are learned by socialization.
In
another way, culture is the shared values, beliefs, norms, behaviors,
knowledge, practice, customs that are transferring from one generation to other
generation.
Before
justifying management is cultural bound or not? we will discuss the following
two approaches to management.
§ Universalistic
approach
§ Socio
cultural approach
Universalistic approach
Management is universal and there exist no differences
among managers and management. Managerial processes and techniques are
universal.
Socio-cultural approach
This
approach is opposite to universal approach. Deviation in managerial patterns,
is caused by the prevailing cultural differences. Business organization of any
country is made up by their own cultural preference.
Managerial
processes and techniques are universal, because these can be implemented in
any culture and society. But based on decision making process and leadership
style management depends on culture of a country.
So, at the end we
can say that-
“ Management is
partially cultural bound and partially not”
