Role
analysis technique is a kind of intervention that is designed to clarify role
expectations and obligations of team members to improve team effectiveness.
Dayal and Thomas developed this intervention process, it includes two key
terms:-
Focal Role incumbent: The subject which will play the role
Focal Role: Set of roles which will be played
The
steps included in RAT are:-

Step 1: Analysis of the focal role initiated by focal role individual.

Step 2: Examination of focal role incumbent’s expectation of others.
·
Step 3: Examination of others’ expectations
of the focal role incumbent’s
·
Step 4: Focal Role incumbent will summarize the role expectation in written( Role Profile)
